BACKGROUND

Our story

RUSCA SAVINGS AND CREDIT COOPERATIVE SOCIETY LIMITED ( RUSCA SACCO LTD) is one of the most active Microfinance Institutions in Ntungamo district, specializing in financial intermediation. RUSCA Sacco Ltd has been in this area of Credit Management and savings mobilization for over 23 years.

RUSCA is a member owned, member financed, member used and member controlled institution initiated by a group of Ten (10) Entrepreneurs in 1999 with the major aim of fighting poverty through savings Mobilization.

In February 2000, RUSCA was incorporated as a Limited Company; under registration number P.421. Immediately the promoters of the Company raised shillings 2,700,000 and 740,000 in savings and shares respectively. This was the start-up capital for RUSCA. On 31st Oct, 2023, it was incorporated as a Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (SACCO) Reg. No P.23647/ RCS

As (31st December, 2023), RUSCA has savings worth shilling…………….and share capital worth …………………. It operates in Ntungamo District and some parts of its neighboring districts of Isingiro, Rukungiri and Kabale.

The institution is governed by a group of seven Board members and has sub-committees such as loans committee, supervisory committee, Human resource Committee and Finance Committee

RUSCA management is composed of 32 full time well trained and skilled employees whose composition is gender – balanced.

RUSCA targets the productive poor farmers and the micro-entrepreneurs by providing them with affordable financial and non financial services which help them; increase on their household incomes, create local employment opportunities, improve entrepreneurial skills in the community and finally achieve a better quality life.

 The Institution’s Head offices are situated in Rubaare Town Council, Ntungamo district, with 4 branches namely; Kitwe Branch, Kashenyi Branch, Kayenje and Rwahi branches located in Kitwe Town Council, Ngoma Subcounty, Rweikiniro Subcounty and Rwento Rwahi Town Council respectively.

Currently, the company’s membership stands at 12,088 and more than 80% of whom are located in the district of Ntungamo.

The mission of RUSA is to fight against Poverty through savings Mobilization and providing Micro-credit services to the economically active rural entrepreneurs sustainably.

Member success depends increasingly on being afforded opportunities, skills and knowledge that enable them to use the products and services obtained from the MFI effectively and efficiently. It is also our policy to invest in developing our work force through education, training, and opportunities for continuing growth to keep pace with the increasing changes occurring in the business environment.

Fast Response

RUSCA operates in a highly-competitive market, and success in such a market demands ever-shorter cycles for new or improved products and services introduced. Also, a faster and more flexible response to customers’ needs is now a critical requirement. Improving response time will likely require RUSCA to employ simplified work groups and processes, while maintaining its bias for action. This is done at RUSCA, and time between loan application and loan approval is always very short because we value customer’s time, energy and needs.
